UNESCO provides several co-sponsored and extra-budgetary fellowships to develop the human resources and capacity-building of Member States, especially developing countries. These fellowships are specially tailored training for qualified persons who are currently practicing or intending to practice. Within this fellowship, they are given a profession in the field of the UNESCO program priorities, an opportunity to receive additional and practical training. Thus, they can contribute to the advancement and circulation of knowledge and skill to promote development and international understanding.

Benefits of this Scholarship:
- Fellowships are awarded, in general, for training at one single institute in only one country
- UNESCO policy is to make short-term awards, often of 6 months or under
- Award will not exceed a maximum of one academic year (i.e. nine months)
Eligibility:
- Age must be on or below 45 years
- Applicants who have exceptional merit, and who have demonstrated that they possess outstanding potential to contribute to the social, cultural and/or economic development of their country
- Those who have already begun their careers, or are at an advanced stage of their university education
- Those who are pursuing post-graduate studies of short-term duration
How to Apply:
- Application must be channeled through the National Commission for UNESCO of the candidate’s country and should be addressed to the Director-General
- Certified copies of any university degrees or diplomas should be attached. These certificates should be translated into the language of the requested country of study if need be
- Language Certificate and a recent Medical Examination Report should be included
- A duly endorsed application by the National Commission for UNESCO, should be sent to the following address in the contact section
