Taiwan Government Scholarships for International Students

Description:

Ministry of Education of Taiwan government is offering graduation, post graduation & PhD scholarships to the international Students from different parts of the world who are interested in studying in the colleges & universities of Taiwan. This will be provided through Taiwan Scholarship Program.

The prime concern of the program is to provide opportunities of studying in Taiwan to the meritorious international students so that they can learn the academic culture of Taiwan. The aim is to exchange cultural belief & build up friendly relationship between Taiwan and other countries around the globe. This program excludes student from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau.

Scholarship Provider:

Ministry of Education of Taiwan Government is providing the scholarship. You must assure whether the institution is associated within the Scholarship program. Area of Study:

The scholarship covers a wide range of degrees offered by Taiwan Universities & Colleges.

Benefits of this Scholarship:

(i)  Tuition and payment of academic fees, including credit fee

  • You will be paid up to NTD 40000 per semester.
  • If the total fees exceed the threshold of NTD 40000 the rest of the cost will be beard by the student or the student’s institution. It means that the students should manage the cost above NTD 40000 themselves.
  • The following fees will be excluded from tuition fees & should be managed by the recipient students: housing fees, administration fees, internet bill, thesis consultant fees, insurance premium etc.

(ii)  Subsistence allowance

  • Each undergraduate student will be paid NTD15000 as monthly compensation.
  • Each Postgraduate student will be paid NTD20000 as monthly compensation.
  • Maximum duration of this scholarship program for undergraduates is 4 years.
  • Maximum duration of this scholarship program for post graduates is 2 years.
  • Maximum duration of this scholarship program for PhD students is 4 years.
  • One student can receive the maximum scholarship of 5 years for combined studies of different programs or degrees.

 

Eligibility:

(i)

  • You must be a foreign student having high school diploma or post – secondary degrees.
  • You should possess brilliant academic results & have good moral values.

(ii) You are not eligible upon meeting the following criteria:

  • If you are overseas Chinese students & R.O.C. nationals.
  • If you have already a registered student or having the status of student in any university or college of Taiwan. But if you are looking for further studies after completing graduation will get exemption from this rule.
  • If you have already completed similar level of study in Taiwan.
  • If you got admission with the academic cooperation arrangements between local institutions and international colleges/universities for dual/joint degrees.
  • If you have already received the maximum limit of 5 years Taiwan Scholarship.
  • If previously your Taiwan scholarship or Huayu Enrichment scholarship from the MOE invalidated.
  • If you are receiving other scholarship or subsidy from Taiwan government or any educational institution of Taiwan. This will exclude the cost provided by educational institutions over NTD 40000 limit per semester in order to cover tuition cost other fees

(iii)

  • Students should directly apply for getting admission within the specific deadline provided by each university & colleges listed in “Association of Taiwan Scholarship Program Schools” (see Appendix 1).
  • Students who are applying for any other institution rather than listen in the Taiwan Scholarship program will be disqualified automatically.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

How to Apply:

  • Students should apply directly to their chosen university/college of Taiwan within specified deadline of application.
  • Applicants should directly communicate with relevant Taiwan Embassy of Representative Office in order to obtain information regarding application process, guidelines and forms, category of scholarship, quotas and about the selection process by 31st January every year.
  • Applicants must provide all the relevant completed documents to the nearest Taiwan Embassy or Representative Office in his own country.
  • Yearly application period is normally 1 February to 31 March, but the actual period will depend on applicant’s local Taiwan Representative offices regulation.
