 Description:  The Sir William McKie Travelling Scholarship enables a student to study at a school of music in London approved by the dean of the faculty. The funds for the scholarship have been donated by the Sir William McKie Memorial Trust in memory of the late Sir William McKie who was City Organist, Melbourne, and Organist of Magdalen College, Oxford, before taking up the position of Master of Choristers at Westminster Abbey in 1941. He occupied the post with distinction until 1963 and was knighted for his services to music in 1953, the year in which he was Director of Music for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
