 Description:  The grants will assist students who are enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree and are undertaking a placement in a rural or remote area of South Australia as part of their program to gain professional experience. The grants will provide financial assistance for the costs associated with undertaking a placement including travel, accommodation and living expenses.

 Annual Comment:  The grant is valued at $2,000 to be paid in one instalment after the relevant census date.

 Eligibility:  Applicants must: be Australian citizens or permanent residents; be financially disadvantaged; undertake the placement for a minimum of 2 consecutive weeks in the year that they apply for the grant; and provide a statement (max 500 words) detailing the location and duration of the placement and their future career goals. The written statement should also detail the expected weekly expenses to be incurred while the student is on placement and if applicable the expected loss of income during that time. Students who are in receipt, in the same year, of any other Placement Grant administered by the University of South Australia or are receiving financial assistance from the Spencer Gulf Rural Health School are not eligible to apply. Recipients will be selected on the basis of financial disadvantage, academic merit (GPA) and a personal written statement.
