Rotary Scholarships for Water and Sanitation Professionals

The Rotary foundation and UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education are trying to tackle water and sanitation issues facing the world. They would like to increase the number of trained professionals to be part of solutions devised and implemented in developing countries. To this end, the Rotary Foundation will give grants to Rotary clubs to sponsor a number of students every year.

  • MSc in Urban Water and Sanitation
  • MSc in Water Management
  • MSc in Water Science and Engineering

 Benefits of this Scholarship:

Detailed information can be found in the terms and conditions. In general the scholarship covers tuition, room and board, study materials, international travel and other study related costs negotiated between the Rotary Foundation and UNESCO-IHE with an approximate value of €34,000.

 Eligibility:

Please refer to the terms and conditions for more details. A summary of the requirements are as follows:

  1. The applicants must demonstrate a strong background in academics, professional work, community involvement and personal character.
  2. The applicant must agree to the terms of funding stated by UNESCO-IHE.
  3. Maintain a strong academic performance throughout the program.
  4. Provide monthly updates to sponsor and presentations when required in the Netherlands and the applicant’s home country on educational programs and cultural experiences.
  5. The applicant must return to his home country after completion of the program and work with Rotarian sponsors in the fields of water and sanitation impact.

 How to Apply:

Applicants must first be admitted to one of the three eligible UNESCO-IHE academic programs then seek the sponsorship of their local Rotary club or district. Applications directly to the Rotary Foundation without admission to one of the three programs will not be considered. Applications to the Rotary club must be submitted no later than 15 June of the year the program commences.
