Brief Summary:
In 2008 the Open Society Fellowship was organized, the objective of this program is to support individuals obtaining innovative and extraordinary approaches to fundamental open society challenges. A fellowship project might indicate or find a problem that has not previously been recognized or solved, so it develop and establish new policy ideas to find familiar problems, or offer a new advancement strategy.
Fellows have to do various types of works or activities including publications such as books, reports, or blogs; innovative public-education projects; or the launch of new campaigns or organizations. They also engage themselves in other types of activities such as hosting panel discussions, traveling to conferences, participating in policy debates, and aggressively promoting their ideas in public venues.
The fellowship does not provide any fund or enrollment for degree or non-degree study at academic institutions, including dissertation research.

Fellows should select any two areas of interest to the Open Society Foundations. Among these are
- Human rights,
- Government transparency,
- Access to information and to justice,
- Promotion of civil society and social inclusion.
Benefits of this Scholarship:
- Open for all, anyone from anywhere of the world.
- Full-time fellows will receive a fellowship of $80,000 or $100,000. (Depends on work experience, seniority, and current income)
- Part-time fellows will get allowance at proportional rate.
- The allowance does not necessarily equal the applicant’s current salary.
Eligibility:
- The Open Society Fellowship accepts proposals from anywhere in the world.
- Applicants should know perfectly about their selected subject.
- Make track record of their chosen subject for professional accomplishment.
- Fellows should be extraordinary and ability to see beyond the limitation of their field and possess the resolution to complete a project of exceptional merit.
- Highly proficient in spoken English is mandatory.
