New Zealand International Doctoral Research Scholarships

Brief Description:
This scholarship program aims to provide scholarships for international students, who are not citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand or Australia, and  are seeking an opportunity to pursue a PhD Degree, at an university in New Zealand.

Scholarship Provider:
The scholarship is funded by the New Zealand Government and administered by Education New Zealand

Area of Study:
This scholarship covers absolutely any field of study, of any discipline, being offered under PhD Degree Programme(s) by the participating universities in New Zealand.

Benefits of this Scholarship:
Extend up to 3 years and cover:
*University tuition fees and associated costs
*Annual living expenses amounting up to NZ$25,000 (tax-free)
*Medical insurance expenses with a grant up to NZ$600 annually

Eligibility:

The applicant:
*Must have attained a GPA of 3.7 on a scale of 4.0 or a grade of A or A+ average, in their most recent level of tertiary education.
*Must have accepted a non-conditional offer from a New Zealand University, for admission and direct-start in a PhD program.
*Must have had started their course of study in New Zealand, strictly after 1st July,2015,if they have already commenced studying there
*Must be physically present in NZ during the course of study and not opt for distance-learning at all.

One is non-eligible if:
*He/She is a citizen or a permanent resident of Australia or NZ.

Application Procedure:
*Firstly, the applicant has to have attained non-conditional admission at a university in NZ for a PhD program.
*Then, the applicant must download and fill out the NZIDRS 2016 application form.
*The form is then to be submitted to Education New Zealand, along with additional supporting documents.
*The application is to be submitted by 15th July, 2016.
