Malaysia International Scholarships (MIS).

Brief description:

The government of Malaysia seeks to attract the meritorious students from all over the world. The MIS (The Malaysia International Scholarship) is a plausible step to make this process more attractive to the whole world. It’s the Malaysian Government’s initiative to inspire, entice and harvest genius human resources from around the globe.

Scholarship value/inclusions:

Each scholarship consists of:

  1. Air tickets from recipient’s capital city to Malaysia
    b) An approved tuition fees
    c) Monthly maintenance allowance
    d) Annual grant for books and internal travel
    e) Medical / Health Insurance
    f) Installation and Termination grant
    g) Thesis allowance
    h) Visa

The grant offers the prospective students with:

  • A ticket from Applicant’s city to the capital of Malaysia.
  • A tuition fee which has been approved.
  • Allowance for maintenance monthly.
  • Yearly stipend for travels abroad and books.
  • Health or, Medical insurance.
  • Grant for installation an termination.
  • Stipend for Thesis.
  • Visa.

Eligibility:

Prospective competitors must meet the following conditions:

  1. a) Age must be below 40 years for Postgraduate courses and 45 years for Post-doctoral degree application during the application.
  2. b) Applicant must have at least a Second Class Upper in Honors course, or, a cumulative grade point average of 3.4 on a scale of 4 in order to apply for Masters; and prospective PhD students must have a CGPA of 3.5 on a scale of 4 or an outstanding result in Masters Course in a related field of study on which the applicant wishes to do the PhD. In case of PhD applicants, selection will take into account the number of refereed/non-refereed journals, patent copyright, portfolio and the number of books written. The Post-Doctoral applicant must be very well known in the fields of research and have an in-depth knowledge of the field on which research will be done.
  3. c) Took one of the following English Language Proficiency Test not more than two years before the date of application. The list of tests and minimum scores required: The applicant must have a valid score on the following test (results must not be older than two years):

–A band score of 6.5 in the academic test of IELTS; or

–At least 580, or, 230, or, 92 on paper based, or, Computer based, or, Internet based TOEFL respectively.

  1. d) A certificate of excellent health given by a certified medical officer and the applicant will have to bear the cost of medical.
  2. e) Must have written a proposal which is relevant to the intended area of study/research.
  3. f) Must have an offer of admission into a Malaysian university (conditional letter of offer is accepted during the submission of application, or, confirmation of admittance, or, association with the universities in Malaysia).

Via the Ministry of Higher Education’s website every application must submitted online. It starts from 1st of January of each year and ends on 31st of March of that same year.
