 Description:  Professor Janice Reid AM was Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Western Sydney from 1998-2013. She is a recipient of several awards and honours both in Australia and overseas, and has served on numerous boards and committees in the area of health and welfare policy, education, arts, culture and regional development. The Joan Reid Scholarship for Refugee Women reflects Professor Reid’s commitment to education and is named in honour of her mother who has throughout her life provided help, hospitality, friendship and a warm welcome to newly arrived immigrants and refugees.
