International students who are interested to obtain their graduation courses from Japanese universities are getting the scholarship offer from The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT). The offer is open to both who wish to study under non degree programs or regular degree under the Japanese government Scholarship program for 2015. You should apply for related subjects which was major in your previous studies or at university. Applicants will be chosen depending on the Field of study and it will decide which applicants are eligible to study in Japanese universities. Japanese Embassy/Consulate General will mainly decide the restriction on the field of study. Visit the official website to check any other restrictions relevant to your field of study.

Eligibility:
(1) Nationality:
- Applicants must possess the nationality of a country which has diplomatic relationship with Japanese government.
- Stateless persons are eligible to apply.
- Students are not eligible, if he/she is having Japanese nationality while applying. But, Students having dual nationality and living outside Japan are eligible if and only if they will emigrant from Japan by the time of arrival in Japan
- Application screening will be processed by Japanese Diplomatic mission in applicant’s home country.
(2) Age:
- Applicant’s birth date must be on or after 2nd April, 1980.
(3) Academic Background
Students should possess a graduation from any Japanese university or have equivalent or superior academic qualification that matches with Japanese university graduation. It will be considered a student has equivalent or superior academic qualification that matches with Japanese university graduation if he/she:
- Has already finished or have the intention to finish 16 year school curriculum in an overseas country. (but the students who are willing to study in doctoral course including dentistry or veterinary science, pharmacy which is founded on a 6-year department or faculty or in the field of medicine should have completed or have the intention to complete 18 year school curriculum); or
- Has attended individual entrance qualification by a Japanese graduate school which confirming the equivalence or superior academic qualification and he/she will become 22 year or more older. (Age requirement is 24 year or older if the student is willing to study in doctoral course including dentistry or veterinary science, pharmacy which is founded on a 6-year department or faculty or in the field of medicine)
Note: An applicant will be considered as eligible for the admission if he/she satisfies the adequate application prerequisites of Japanese graduate school. Generally, a person will be considered ineligible if he/she has completed any doctoral qualification except the intention is to acquire a degree.
(4) Japanese Language:
- Applicants must have motivation in learning local Japanese language.
- Applicants should have interest in understanding Japanese life style and able to complete their degree while adjusting themselves in Japanese environment.
(5) Health:
- Applicant’s physical and mental health should support or make him/her capable to earn his/her graduation from Japanese universities.
(6) Arrival in Japan:
- An applicant must be able to reach in Japan between 1st April 2015 to 7th of April 2015; or
- Within two weeks of the date given from his/her university to start the semester. (In principle, in September or October).
(7) Visa Requirements
- After being selected students must obtain ‘College Student’ Visa in order to enter in Japan.
- Visa should be issued by Japanese officials from the Applicant’s home country.
- If a student changes his/her resident status to any other status rather than ‘College student’ will immediate lose their Japanese government scholarship student status.

- As the procedures vary for individual countries where Japanese Embassy exists, applicants are requested to inquire with the Japanese Embassy or consultant in your country to obtain detailed information.
