 Description:  The Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarships (CECS) are available to Indigenous students to assist with the high costs of undertaking higher education. While the CECS have been replaced by the Student Start-Up Scholarships (administered by Centrelink), they will continue to be offered to Indigenous students in their existing form.

 Eligibility:  Applicants must: be Indigenous Australian citizens or permanent residents enrolled full time in their first undergraduate degree; be able to provide proof of low income status; and have not previously received the Indigenous Access Scholarship (IAS). Preference will be given to applicants who relocate to attend university from regional, rural or remote area of Australia. Tenure is dependent on continuing to meet the enrolment criteria and low income eligibility, as well as maintaining a grade point average of 3.0 or above for the 2nd payment.
