 Description:  The Hunter New England Health (HNEH) Indigenous Scholarships have been created to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in a Health Discipline at the University of Newcastle. This Allied Health scholarship is intended to support and encourage students to pursue a career in the health sector; more specifically, within the Hunter New England Local Health District.

 Annual Amount:  $5,000

 Annual Comment:  The scholarship provides a benefit of $5,000 per annum for a maximum of 4 years, to be paid as 2 lump sums of $2,500 after each semester census date.

 Eligibility:  Applicants must: be enrolled in one of the specified Health disciplines; identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and be recognised as such by their community; be living, or have lived in the region serviced by the Hunter New England Local Health District within the last 12 months; be Australian citizens or permanent residents; not have previously completed a degree; be a continuing student; and be enrolled full-time. Preference may be given to students who have completed 1 year of full-time study.

 Other Details:  The Allied Health scholarship is for students enrolled in one of the following Health Disciplines: Allied Health (Nutrition & Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Podiatry, Physiotherapy, Psychology, Radiography, Social Work and Speech Pathology), Oral Health, or Aboriginal Professional Practice (with a Health major).
