 Description:  Gavin Wanganeen is the first Aboriginal to receive an AFL life membership for playing 300 official matches. He is also a premiership star, Brownlow medallist, 5-time All Australian and Best-and-Fairest winner with Port Adelaide Football Club. Gavin Wanganeen is a role model and representative for Indigenous youth in Australia and UniSA is the only university in Australia which has identified a commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education in its charter.

Selection is based on academic results, community activity and potential for success at university. The recipient is required to act as a positive ambassador for the scholarship to encourage support.
