 Description:  The Chancellor’s Research Scholarships are the premier research scholarships offered by Swinburne University of Technology. The primary purpose of this award is to assist outstanding candidates of exceptional research promise to undertake a PhD in association with the university’s leading research groups and leading international research organisations and laboratories.

 Annual Comment:  The scholarship covers tuition fees and provides an annual stipend of $30,000. In addition, the CRS provides a research establishment grant of up to $3,000 and up to $5,000 funding for an overseas placement of up to 6 months in a collaborating laboratory or organisation nominated by Swinburne.

 Eligibility:  Applicants must have completed 4 years of tertiary education with first class Honours or equivalent results. In order to receive the scholarship, applicants must be accepted in the relevant research program. Overseas research is a requirement of the scholarship. Candidates cannot: previously have held an Australian Government Research Scholarship for more than 3 months for a degree at the same level than that proposed; be in receipt of an equivalent award (greater than 75 per cent of the base stipend); or have completed a degree at the same level or higher than that proposed. Tenure is dependent on satisfactory progress, and continued enrolment.
