Australia awards fellowships, formerly known as Australia Leadership Awards. A regional program’s component known as Australia Leadership Awards is targeting to advance leadership skill, build cooperation and correlation between developing countries. People who have already established themselves as leaders and believe that they have what it takes to be a leader by renovating social and economic policies are the target market of this program.

Australian organizations are offering the Australia Awards Fellowships to specific programs such as short-term study, research, and professional attachment

Scholarship Provider:

Previously, fellows were hosted by a wide range of Australian organizations such as academic, research, business, industry, media, NGOs, professional groups and government and the applications are strictly restricted to Australian organizations which have current linkage with counterpart foreign organizations in qualified countries.

Area of Study:

The theme of the Australian organizations’ fellowship proposal is foreign affairs and development policy and the highlighted areas are: Infrastructure, Trade facilitation and international competitiveness, Gender equality and empowering women and girls, Effective governance policies, institutions and functioning economies, Education, Health, , Agriculture, fisheries and water, Building flexibility: philanthropic support, catastrophe risk contraction and social protection.

Two new areas have been introduced to the list for the round 16 which are part of development issues. Innovation and Science for advancing the Australian Government’s National Innovation and Science Agenda another one is Tropical Health and Medical Research.

Benefits of this Scholarship:

  • The selected fellows will be granted $25000 annually.
  • Return air travel payment of a single return will be provided.
  • Your living expense will be contributed by the providers approximately $15,000 per year.

Eligibility:

Fellows who meet the following requirements will be considered eligible by the Australian organizations:

  • At the time of commencing the Award, he/she must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • The applicants must not have Australian permanent residence permit or cannot be applying for permanent residency.
  • Must have to be a citizen of and residing in an eligible developing country.
  • Not be current serving military personnel.
  • Neither be married nor engaged to, or not be a de facto of an Australian or New Zealand citizens or eligible to hold citizenship.
  • Must be working in a field pertinent to the fellowship activities in their home country prior to the proposed commencement of their fellowship.
  • All the requirements of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection have to be met for the DFAT Student Visa 576.
  • Be able to participate during the proposed Fellowship activities and for the duration proposed by the Australian organization.

How to Apply:

  • Foreign counterpart organizations and individual fellows must be sponsored by an Australian organizations
  • Begin contact with an Australian organization to delve into their interest in applying for Fellowship funding as individuals cannot apply directly.
