The University of Auckland is part of the group of academic institutions that provide the ADB-Japan scholarship program. The scholarship strives to give opportunities to well qualified nationals of ADB’s member countries. The scholarship is given for postgraduate studies in the fields of science, technology, management science, economics and other development related fields that are taught in universities in the Asia-Pacific region.

  • Master of Commerce (International Business)
  • Master of Public Health
  • Master of Arts (Development Studies)
  • Master of International Business
  • Masters Programs in Engineering
  • Master of Science (Environmental Science)

 Benefits of this Scholarship:

The following items will be covered by the scholarship:

  • Program tuition fee.
  • Airplane ticket fare to and from Auckland.
  • Basic cost of living.
  • Health Insurance.
  • A special grant for thesis preparation for those who are engaged in research.

Eligibility:

The applicants must comply with the following requirements:

  • The applicant is in good health.
  • The applicant will have to return to their home countries after completion of studies.
  • Employees, consultants of ADB and their relatives are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
  • Staff of JSP (Japan Scholarship Program) designated institutions are not allowed to apply.
  • If an applicant is living in a country that is not their own home country, then they are not eligible to apply.
  • The applicant cannot already be enrolled in a graduate degree program.
  • The scholarship is not meant for short term training, conferences, seminars, thesis docs and research projects as well as distant learning programs and undergrad programs.
  • The applicant cannot be above the age of 35 at the time of applying. Some exceptions are given for programs aimed at senior officials whereby the age limit is set to 45.
  • Proficiency in the English language both in oral and written communications.
  • The applicant must possess two full years of professional experience after having completed a university degree.
  • The applicant must have completed a bachelor’s degree with superior grades.
  • The applicant has gotten admission to an approved masters or doctoral program in a participating academic institution.

 How to Apply:

Steps for applying to the program is as follows:

  1. Visit the official website and go through it diligently for all steps and requirements of the program. The link is given below in the contact section.
  2. An applicant can only apply for the scholarship after having received admission to an eligible postgraduate program and has in hand official offer of place from the university. He must then apply online as an international applicant for one of the eligible programs.
  3. Complete the application for admission.
  4. Submit the following docs:
    1. ADB-JSP information sheet.
    2. Verified copy of passport or birth certificate.
    3. Academic transcripts.
    4. English proficiency results IELTS/TOEFL.
    5. Passport size photos.
  5. After having received an offer of place from the University of Auckland, complete the application form and courier it with all other documents to the following address:
