ADB-Japan Scholarship Program for Developing Countries in Asia and Pacific

Brief Description:
This scholarship program revolves around engaging highly-qualified citizens of ADB’s developing member countries, in an opportunity to complete a postgraduate degree in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields, at various associated institutions in the Asian and Pacific Region. Throughout the course of the program the students will be enhanced with knowledge that would help them to initiate economic and social development in their home countries.

This scholarship is valid only for associated institutions with ADB-JSP.

The Asian Development Bank, Japan

Area of Study:
The areas of study inclusive under this scholarship program are postgraduate studies in economics, management, health, education, agriculture, environment, natural resource management, science and technology, and other development-related fields.

*Books and instructional materials expenses

*Travel expenses
*Scholarship validity for 1 year with conditional extension onto the second year

The applicant:
*Must be a national from a country which is borrowing from the Asian Development Bank
*Has to have attained admission to a MA/PhD course in an academic institution
*Must be a Bachelor graduate with excellent academic scores
*Must have gained 2 years of working experience (after graduation), as a full-time professional, at the time of application
*Should be highly proficient in verbal and written English
*Must be 35 years of age or younger, at the time of application.
*Must not exceed the age limit of 45 years for programs associated with senior officials and managers.
*Is physically sound and healthy
*Should concede to an agreement of returning to his/her home country after graduation

One is non-eligible for this program if one:
* Is an Executive Director, Alternate Director, management and staff of ADB, consultant, and a relative of the aforementioned
*Belongs to the staff of the academic institutions
*Living and working in a different country other than his/her home-country
*Is enrolled in any graduate-degree programs
*IS looking for sponsorship in undergraduate studies, distance learning programs, short-term training, conferences, seminars, thesis writing, and research projects.

Application Procedure:
*Firstly, the applicant should lodge a request for information and application forms from the institution of their choice
*He/She must clearly state what academic institution they are applying for admission in
*The applicant must also state the fact that they are seeking consideration for this scholarship program
*The form must be filled out with correct data, accordingly, and then submitted to the academic institution, along with:
*The required additional documents and
*The ADB-JSP Information Sheet form.
*The documents must be submitted at least six months prior to the planned time that the applicant wishes to commence studies on, with reference to these respective application dates.
