VLIR-UOS Training and Masters Scholarships

VLIR-UOS believes that Universities and university colleges can play a key role in social innovation by trying to find solutions in their research and education to the social challenges and thus supports partnerships between universities and university colleges. The organization awards training and masters scholarships to scholars from eligible countries in Africa, Asia and Latin-America. Successful recipients of the scholarships pursue an English-taught training or master programme either at a Flemish university or at a university college in Belgium.

Benefits of this Scholarship:

 

For Training programs

  • A daily allowance of € 33 will be given to the scholar
  • Multiple singular payments will be made throughout the duration of scholarship to cover didactic/mailing and programme related travel expenses
  • A daily accommodation allowance of €50 will be given to the scholar
  • Payments for insurance to cover third party liability, health, personal injury etc. will be provided under the scholarship
  • For international travel one return ticket (economy class), per stay in Belgium will be provided for the scholar
  • Tuition fee (variable amount based on institution) for the training program will be covered under the scholarship

For a Master program

  • Monthly allowance of  € 890 will be paid to the scholar
  • A monthly accommodation allowance of € 390 will be provided for the scholar
  • A monthly allowance of € 62 will be given for every dependent family member of the scholar
  • Multiple singular payments will be made throughout the duration of scholarship to cover didactic/mailing/installation and programme related travel expenses
  • Payments for insurance to cover third party liability, health, personal injury etc. will be provided under the scholarship
  • For international travel one return ticket (economy class), per stay in Belgium will be provided for the student
  •  Tuition fee for the master program will be covered under the scholarship

 

Eligibility:

 

  • The candidate must be a national and resident of one of the countries listed below:

Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Guinea, Cameroon, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Niger
Asia: Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Palestinian Territories, Vietnam
Latin America: Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, Nicaragua, Peru

  • For an initial masters ICP candidate must be be ≤ 35 years old and for advanced masters the candidate must be ≤ 40 years old. The ITP candidates must be ≤ 45 years as of on January 1 of the intake year
  • Priority will be given to candidates currently employed in academic institutions, research institutes, governments, social economy or in NGO’s, or those with an aim to build career in one of these sectors
  • Candidates employed in the profit sector (ICP and ITP) or fresh graduates without work experience (ICP) are also eligible to apply for the scholarship
  • The ITP candidate with relevant professional experience need to submit a support letter explaining the immediate application of their acquired knowledge and skills

  • In the programme application, mention your wish to apply for a scholarship
  • Submit application for the training or Master programme
  • You can only apply for one training/ Master programme each year
